Artistic Oversize Prints are printed at the requested size on oversized paper. As an example if you are looking for a 8×10 print done as an artistic oversize print then I would print it on at least a 8.5×11 paper leaving the white borders and increasing the perceived value of the print.
Traditionally when asking for bordered prints they are actually smaller than the requested size so if you request a 8×10 print with a traditional border the final print size will be close to 7.25×9.25 to get your border. Printing with a smaller image size can cause issues when framing. With artistic oversize prints the print will be the requested size with extra white around the outside, great for signing as well!
The benefits are:
1) Actual requested print size
2) You can handle the area around the print or it can be used to hang the print from this white area or mounted behind a mat without affecting the image area
3) Extra space outside of the image can be used for signature, description or additional information that will not intrude on the image
4) Many framers and galleries like the extra space so no part of the image is lost when framed
Print pricing for my artistic oversized prints are based on the paper size used to print the image.
You can also choose to have the borders offset. Doing so will leave a border that is larger on the bottom than the top to allow for a signature to be included when the print is matted.
