Photo Lamination – IT DOES WORK!!!

Photo Lamination – IT DOES WORK!!! – Do Not Try This at Home!

If you’ve ever been to my studio, you’ve probably noticed the signs on the front door. Both the general info sign and the address sign stay up 24/7, year-round—no matter the weather.

A few months ago, my address sign went missing. In a hurry, I quickly printed a new one using the same printer I use for photo prints. Now, to be clear—these prints are not meant for outdoor use. They’re designed for albums or framed displays indoors. But I figured, “Just for now…”

Months earlier, I had created a new main sign for the door. This one was professionally laminated—our fine leather texture laminate on the front and a matte laminate on the back.

Watching the difference between the two signs has been eye-opening.

The unlaminated photo print has faded and weathered badly in the sun and rain. The numbers and letters were printed 100% black.

Photo Lamination – The Proof!!

Meanwhile, the laminated sign still looks brand new. Took this image in the rain this morning where it has been for just about six months. Notice the blacks are still black! This sign actually gets more sun and rain then the other sign and it still looks better!!

Photo Lamination – Best way to frame!!

This is a perfect example of why I always recommend laminating your prints—especially if they’re going in a frame. Laminated and mounted prints are a great alternative to glass: they’re lighter, safer, and with the leather-textured finish, they have a high-end look.

This little “test” really shows how well the laminate protects against aging. It will even work better when used indoors!
