If you have a starter point and shoot camera or a top of the line DSLR you will love the courses. From beginners that shoot a few pictures a month to the photo insane that shoot thousands a month you will enjoy getting out and taking pictures in some of the greatest spots in Canada. Unlike taking courses with most other teachers there is NO prerequisite to learn your camera first. That is what the courses are for. From menus, to settings, to camera techniques to post shoot editing, we have a course for you. We do not just teach, we help you learn and we answer questions - a novel concept that many teachers could learn. If you just want to get out with some like minded photo enthusiasts you will love the fellowship that you will experience as you take time to shoot pictures that you want with other photo enthusiasts!
Waterton Field Trip - a one on one or small group adventure A full day (8 hour) - one on one class. We meet at the studio in Lethbridge and head out to Waterton for a day of shooting. Stopping in Waterton for a light lunch (lunch provided). We cover off the functions & menus of your digital camera and set your camera correctly for the days shooting. We then head out to explore Waterton from Pass Creek, to Cameron Falls to wildlife and more, spend the day with a professional photographer shooting real life situations. After our shoot we then return to the studio to go through the images that we shot, edit an image and print a 16x24 print on luster paper. Your teacher will be Mike Paterson of Paterson Photography Ltd. He has had photos published in the Lethbridge Herald, Calgary Sun, Lethbridge Living Magazine, Readers Digest, Alberta Report, numerous professional Emergency Services Publications and many other publications both national and international. Mike has prints in private and public collections around the world including a print that hangs at US Bomber Command of a B52 bomber on a bombing run. Being an outdoor person since the age of 9 Mike brings with him a love of nature and the outdoors. Traveling extensively in western Canada Mike has found some of the best locations to get nature shots and some great wildlife locations as well. Mike takes individuals and groups on some fantastic photo safaris, adventures and workshops allowing students plenty of time to take pictures, ask questions and enjoy. Whether you are just starting with an entry level point and shoot camera or you have top of the line equipment and accessories you will find many subjects to photograph. Mike is also accessible during the adventure to answer any and all questions that you may have, "one of the best ways to learn is to have someone that you can ask, during our adventures and workshops all questions are welcome". Hello Mike, I was just writing to say that we made it home in one piece and wanted to say once more how much we loved your workshop! As I told you at the course I have been taking pictures for years and I wanted to move forward with my photography but have never been able to do anything. When I first heard about your course I was scared as I thought that I was not good enough, and my equipment would not be suitable, but after talking with you before the course I was excited. Then during the course you spent so much time with us all helping us to use the equipment that we had it was amazing. I felt like a professional photographer being mentored as an equal and it was GREAT!!!! I do not know what part of the course I liked the best, the night time class was great (thanks for the use of the tripod), sitting around the fireplace for the morning course was great (I love fires), and the hiking was fabulous (3 hours to cover such a short distance was great as I had time to take pictures and was not rushed). Everything about the course was way beyond what I expected. All the best. Jill
