Would you like to get out and get some great pictures in the foothills of Alberta? If so this weekend is the thing for you. A workshop on a southern Alberta ranch, including the accommodation, food, workshops and GREAT scenery. The colors should be great as fall will be just around the corner and this is a great way to cap off your summer. If you like bring the family, Chain Lakes is only a few minutes from the ranch for some great fishing!
If you have missed it southern Alberta was turned into a training ground this past weekend for Search & Rescue Training for troops from the US and Canada. 3 – C130’s have been flying around dropping troops in training exercises. It was my pleasure to get to photograph one of the drop zones. It amazes me how anyone can hit a target when dropped from a plane, let alone hitting the target in southern Alberta winds! I was at a remote location and got to see first hand how the military locates a crash area, determines wind speed and direction and then drops the troops feet from the crash scene.
You think it is impressive to see this at the air show, it is even more impressive to see it happen with full gear loads and with the plane circling overhead at very low altitude.
Great job to everyone involved, here is hoping that you do not have to use this training anytime soon in real life.
Wow another great weekend and it is not even half over, n Friday I had the chance to take a trip up highway 22 to Chain Lakes and on the way see some great areas of our province that I have not had the opportunity to see in many years. If you have not had a chance to travel highway 22 from Lundbreck to Calgary you need to do yourself a favor and get out on this great road. It covers ranching land that you will love! It reminds me of what must have drawn people out west many years ago. After a nice night in Chain Lakes Provincial Park we took a drive that I just love, it is the highway from 22 to Claresholm. Not a drive for everyone as the road is not paved, horrible when wet, and comes with warnings about how steep the grade is. With all that said I love the drive. Got to the top and got some great pictures, some beautiful wildflowers just coming out and some great scenery. Here are a couple pictures from the trip.
Just found out that the last class till August in Waterton with openings is the May 30 & 31 class. Don’t miss out on a great class, get some practical training on your camera before summer vacation on this mini vacation in Waterton.
Several people have mentioned that they had seen some of our pictures on TV as well as in the Lethbridge Herald and the Calgary Sun. Yes they were our pictures. The story was about a plane crash south of Lethbridge on Sunday May 17. They appeared on the front page of The Calgary Sun and The Lethbridge Herald. As well as on Global TV and on the Lounge’s web site in Lethbridge.
Well over the past couple of weeks our web site has gone through a major rebuild. At this time almost all the work has been in the background, with the exception of our new home page and the addition of a new viewing gallery. Over the next couple of weeks things will continue to be cleaned up and updated. If you are on the site and have a problem with a page let me know. In most cases things will be done quickly and no disruption of service will happen but just in case something gets missed we like to know.
Well our first Waterton wedding of the year turned out great. Krystal & Randy had some great weather, some light wind but other than that a GREAT day. It was a pleasure recording your special day. Here are a couple images to show off the lovely couple.
Well I have been trying to get out at night for some time but with the weather being so cold I have been hiding inside. Last night was a great time to get out, that and the fact that I have been asked to do a workshop on night photography and needed to get some of the course written, so out I went. The weather was great, no wind and a good sunset made for some fantastic images.
