Well came back from the road trip through BC to have several loads of wash to do.  Started wash last Friday only to have our washing machine pack it in, on the first load.  So out we went to look for a washing machine.  After another stop we ended up at Bakers.  We have dealt with them before and have always been impressed with the service.  In fact we were in last month looking at dishwashers as ours didn’t seem to be working right only to have them tell us that if we added some salt to the dishwasher it would clean better ~ right they were a tablespoon of salt and dishes look much better (has to do with removing phosphates from the dish detergent).

Found out that a front load was not good for us and they showed us a machine that was half the price of what the front load was that we were looking at.  Add to that they included a dryer for very little more and I was very happy.  To top it off they had it delivered by 4pm and installed (we never bought it till 1)  and I was a very happy person.

GREAT job Bakers!  Prices were great, sales and delivery/ install service was fantastic and after 6 loads of wash I am now ready to hit the road again.

I have gone to NAPA in Coaldale for years, it seems to be one of those places that driving out of the way for is well worth it.  The service is great, the help that you get is first rate and every time I have shown up there I have been treated VERY well.  I have come in with many questions and each time left with some great ideas to help me solve any problems or ideas for projects that I have been working on.  The last time I stopped in I needed a couple items, told the guy behind the counter what I was looking for and in a couple minutes had everything that I needed.

One of the things that I really like is that I am told the truth when looking for things, sometimes it is not what I want to hear (this is going to cost this much $), but when I have checked it out with others the price has been fair and the information accurate.

Over the years I would say that the service is a steady 10 out of ten.  Way to go!

It has hit me in the past year that a number of businesses have started offering service that really is exceptional. Still many places say they offer exceptional service but have no such thing.  I have decided that I want to make an area on my blog to acknowledge the businesses that I have dealt with that have provided service that goes above and beyond.  Some may surprise you as they are not places that you would expect to get great service, many others you will come as no surprise as they have been founded on great service.  I will try and do as many as I come across, hopefully there will be a lot.

I have been getting a lot of phone calls from different companies (today 2 from different companies selling the same thing) that I thought I would drop a quick alert about.  I know that one of the big groups that scammers will go after are photographers because we all want to get our name out there to sell our photos and they will push this fact.

Today the two companies were calling about my advertising with their on-line directories, only problem was that I do not advertise with any on-line directories.  They were both very slick calls;

Call 1

“Hi, I am phoning from 411.ca and would like to verify your listing with us, are you the person that can do this (then really quickly) and authorize an upgrade to your account?”

Call 2

“Hi, how are you today? (leaving no time for an answer – this is one way you can tell a solicitation) I am calling from Data on-line (I think this is what she said as she said it so fast I could not hear) and would like to take a few minutes to confirm your paid listing with us”

This is the time of year that scammers start pushing for victims.  In the last week I have had over a dozen calls all of which are selling me some great advertising deals that I have never heard of, or offering to get me first place rankings on GOOGLE (one even said when I challenged him that he was calling from GOOGLE), or offering you a GREAT deal on a website, 10 pages for only $75.00 with hosting and just about anything else I wanted to get me to say yes.  BEWARE these are scams, some sound great. One I got was from the Yellow Pages (who I do deal with) but they had no information about my account and kept telling me that they now take Visa & MC for my advertising and all I had to do was to give them my card number and I would get a great discount on a new ad program!

The worst one so far that I have heard of is a group out of the east that calls about a directory and they say nothing about a cost, just that they want to confirm your listing details.  When you do this a month later you will get a bill for a listing in a directory that you have never heard of.

My suggestion, if it is to good to be true, you did not call the company yourself, you cannot understand, etc.  Give out no information, not even your name – address or phone number, if they really know you then they know your information already.  Second – Ask to be removed from their call list then hang up without answering any questions.
